High Holborn, London, 30 November 2011, lunchtime, as the marchers were assembling on Lincoln’s Inn Fields.
I couldn’t let today pass without comment. The biggest day of combined industrial action the UK has witnessed in a generation. The strike was estimated at two million strong. Of course they were villified by a right wing media, whose main argument appears to be that public servants should receive pensions as shitty as the rest of the downtrodden population.
All real people know that nurses, teachers, care workers, cleaners, librarians, fire fighters, and their fellow workers from across this country are not responsible for bankrupting the economy. So why should they pay?
Public service workers deserve our support. They have mine!
